When he was 27 years old, a person moved from the U.S. to Lithuania, which is considered the world’s happiest country for young people. After more than a decade in Lithuania, the person believes that the lower income is worth it for a better quality of life. They settled in Lithuania’s capital in 2012 after graduating during the Great Recession. Initially taking a teaching job in Mongolia, they ended up staying in Vilnius after meeting their Lithuanian partner. They appreciate the slower pace of life and the focus on work-life balance in Lithuania. Many young workers are also relocating to Lithuania for its natural beauty and attractive lifestyle. Lithuania ranked as the happiest country for people under 30 and the 19th happiest country overall. The country has implemented various schemes to attract skilled foreign workers.
